Chinese media demand answers on girl’s disappearance in Sinai

Chinese local media demanded Egyptian authorities define the whereabouts of a Chinese girl who had disappeared in the coastal resort of Dahab in Sinai.

Chan Na, 31, and her mother have been missing since 21 August, Chinese media said, citing her friends from home.

Media outlets said one of Na's friends published the story of her disappearance on Sina Weibo, an internet blog, on 8 September. The friend uploaded a photo of Na and some details about people she had met with.

According to the blog, Na had found a job at an Italian restaurant in Egypt but mysteriously decided to return home. She went missing after booking a flight ticket to China.

Officials in Egypt and China made no official statements concerning the incident, but the Chinese embassy in Cairo has begun an investigation.
