Christian hymns included in Sharqiya Islamic chanting competition for first time

The Directorate of Youth and Sports in Sharqiya Governorate on Thursday conducted the final qualifiers for the competition in supplications and religious chanting, with Christian hymns entering the competition for the first time this year.

The competition was organized by the Youth Development Department as part of the department’s activity plan during the summer vacation.

The final qualifiers were held with the participation of 150 contestants, and the arbitration was conducted by a committee specialized in religious chanting and Christian hymns.

The qualifiers were attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mahmoud Abdel-Azim with the participation of the winners of the qualifiers in the sub-departments over the past two weeks.

The competition was held within the plan of the cultural section of the Youth Development Department implementing various competitions in religious activities, supplications and hymns.

It aims to discover artistic talents from childhood, nurturing them and investing into their free time during the summer vacation.
