Court lifts travel ban on MB general guide

Egypt’s Administrative Court has overturned an Interior Ministry decree banning Muslim Brotherhood (MB) general guide Mohamed Badie from traveling.

The ministry had banned Badie from going to hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, in 2008.

Badie’s lawyer Gamal Tag Eddin praised the verdict saying, "I wish the government would obey court orders so as to assert the independence of the judiciary."

The court also ordered that MB members sentenced to prison by military tribunals be released after they have served three quarters of their sentence time.

MB lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud called the verdict "historic" and a "victory" for the group.
