Culture Ministry official arrested for allegedly founding bogus university

Giza Public Funds prosecutors on Tuesday arrested a general manager at the Ministry of Culture for allegedly founding a bogus university and collecting LE30,000 in tuition fees from each student.

The man rented a villa in Agouza and claimed it was a branch of the British Portsmouth University.

Investigations revealed that this university is not registered at the Supreme Council of Universities or the Ministry of Higher Education.

The official, who confessed to the charge, is wanted in 45 other cases of fraud.
