Deaf students to be enrolled in specific education faculties

The Supreme Council of Universities issued decision No. 627 on April 28, allowing deaf people to join faculties of specific education in all Egyptian universities.

Specialists will be trained to assist them in cooperation with the National Council on Disability.

Director of the Citizens Affairs Management Services Mohamed Mokhtar said that the Supreme Council on Disability has submitted an application to the President of the Supreme Council of Universities asking him to enroll deaf students at the faculties of specific education in September 2014.

Teaching assistants and teachers who will teach deaf students would be trained by specialists on how to provide assistance through sign language. The training course is projected to last for two months, he added.
