Demos condemn military’s treatment of cabinet protesters

Demonstrations were staged in several cities on Sunday to condemn the use of force in dispersing a sit-in outside the cabinet building on Friday, and demanding an investigation into the matter.

In Alexandria, the Muslim Brotherhood demanded compensation for the families of victims, while the Coptic Orthodox Church denounced the violence.

In Gharbiya, the Freedom and Justice Party condemned violence against peaceful demonstrations, while in Qena, protesters staged a vigil in the main square for the same purpose.

In Suez, prominent Salafi preacher Hafez Salama held the military council and the government of Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri responsible for the incident.

In Sharqiya, thousands of protesters accused the military council and the government of conniving with the former regime against the interest of the people.
