Education Ministry employees continue sit-in

Employees of the department within the Education Ministry mandated with building state educational facilities on Sunday continued their sit-in for the eighth consecutive day.

They rejected a proposal by Education Minister Ahmed Badr to grant them two-month bonuses in return for ending their protest, saying they would accept nothing less than 15-month bonuses.

Protesters in Daqahliya requested a withdrawal of confidence from their syndicate committee head for having accepted the minister’s proposal on their behalf, while their colleagues in Alexandria criticized Badr for accusing them of corruption.

Protests were also held in Suez, Damietta, Sharqiya and Fayoum, with protesters demanding that the minister apologize for his “humiliating” proposal.
