The Governor of Fayoum, Ahmed al-Ansari, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Baqyat Al-Salihat Association, Marwa Yassin, to discuss establishing the first integrated city for the care and residence of Alzheimer’s patients.

A government statement said that the proposed city adopts the principle of comprehensive, long-term care, psychologically, socially, environmentally, and medically.

Yassin said that the city in Fayoum will be the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, and that it will serve as a therapeutic destination for medical tourism in the governorate.

She reviewed the general plan of the project to confront the disease.

The governor welcomed the idea, and said that different land plots owned by the state will be procured in coordination with the competent authorities, in order to inspect them on the ground and choose the most appropriate plot to establish the project.

Ansari directed officials of the association to prepare a comprehensive study on the project, which includes the general plan, the timelines for the construction, the benefit it will accrue to the people of the governorate and the rest of the governorates of Egypt, and all other matters related to the project.
