Egypt army made no decision on vote delay

Egypt's ruling military council has not yet decided whether to delay elections to return the country to civilian rule, an army source said on Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal earlier quoted a retired Egyptian general as saying it was "highly possible" that the elections will be delayed by up to three months.

"The matter of elections and election delays has not been determined yet. Such reports are speculation and guesswork," the army source told Reuters.

Some political groups want a delay in legislative polls set for September, but Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said on Monday the parliamentary vote will go ahead late that month.
