Egypt arrests Sudanese trying to cross into Israel

Egypt's border security on Sunday foiled an attempt by a Sudanese national to cross into Israel.

Border security forces detected Haroun, 31, approaching the border. They warned him before chasing and arresting him, and he is now being interrogated.

Israeli reports estimated that about 10,000 African migrants have entered Israel illegally in the past few years. They are hired on Israeli settlements and farms as cheap labor.

International human rights organizations have frequently criticized Egyptian security authorities for using excessive force in handling the issue.
