Egypt begins to change load shedding plan for exams

The government has responded to requests submitted by parliamentarians and citizens regarding changing the current dates for the load shedding plan and not cutting off electricity at night, following the start of mid-year exams.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly ordered the state to work swiftly to implement the plan to reduce loads during daylight hours only, during his meeting on Tuesday with the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, and heads of concerned bodies to follow up on the plan to reduce loads across Egypt.

The official spokesperson for the Cabinet, Mohamed al-Homsani, explained that the Ministry of Electricity has taken measures in the past few days and is set to begin implementing the changes starting Wednesday.

The period for reducing electricity loads will take place within 11 am to five pm.

The ministry will announce the schedules for reducing loads for each district, set at two hours for each.
