Egypt has secured 150 million doses of various coronavirus vaccines so far, Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector at the Ministry of Health Alaa Eid said, adding that the Health Ministry currently has nearly three million doses.

This statement came during a meeting of the Health Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, headed by MP Ashraf Hatem, on Monday.

The Ministry of Health has equipped 24 centers in the governorates to vaccinate travelers. It has also provided an option on its website for travelers to request the vaccine, according to Eid.

More than four million citizens have been vaccinated so far, out of a total of 9.5 million citizens who have registered to receive the vaccine. A additional campaign has launched to vaccinate homebound citizens, he added.

According to Eid, 650,000 medical staff have been vaccinated.

In addition to medical staff, campaigns have been conducted to vaccinate dialysis patients, more than 140,000 prisoners, tourism workers, ministers, and members of the House of Representatives and Senate.

The Health Affairs Committee has requested a plan detailing the future and fulfillment of Egypt’s vaccination campaign from the Ministry of Health, including its plan to vaccinate Egyptians traveling abroad.
