Egypt plans new hydroelectric power stations in cooperation with China

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy on Friday announced the construction of storage and pumping power stations, as well as small hydroelectric stations on the Nile, as contracted by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during his visit to China last month.
Egypt has been rushing to fill the gap between supply and demand in energy before summer 2015, when air-conditioning will increase demand on Egypt's already-ailing electricity grid. Officials have blamed the power outages on gas shortages, needed to run local power plants.
