Egypt recovers ancient statue thanks to German family’s will

An antique statue has been repatriated to Egypt from the family of a German citizen who bequeathed the item in his will, according to State Antiquities
Minister Mohamed Ibrahim.

The statue dates back to the Greco-Roman era. It features the face of a lion, made of marble, measuring 19 centimetres high and 12 centimetres wide.

The family handed over the statue to the Egyptian embassy in Berlin, which has in turn returned it to Egypt this week.
