Egypt on Sunday expressed its rejection of Turkish military operations in the northern Syrian city of Afrin.
A statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said that the operations are a new violation of Syrian sovereignty and undermine potential political solutions and counter-terrorism efforts in Syria.
The statement stressed Egypt’s firm stance against military solutions, which it said would lead to an increase in the suffering of the Syrian people.
It called for the participation of all factions of Syria to engage in serious negotiations within the framework of a comprehensive and objective political process without excluding any party, with the necessity of preserving the territorial integrity of the country.
