Egypt responds to Muslim Brotherhood door-to-door campaign with arrests

The Muslim Brotherhood's Daqahlia branch on Monday launched an electoral campaign under the banner "Knocking on Doors for Reform".

Brotherhood sources said the door-to-door canvassing will expose the group's reasons for participation in November's parliamentary elections. The Brotherhood prepared a leaflet titled "Why the Muslim Brotherhood is Entering the Elections" in response to calls for a boycott due to expectant fraud, according to the leaflet.

A second leaflet explains the group's slogan "Islam is the Solution".

The campaign, the sources said, also intends to familiarize Egyptians with Brotherhood candidates and the achievements of current MPs.

Meanwhile, state security forces escalated intimidation measures against group members by issuing arrests in several governorates.
