Egypt, Saudi Arabia vow to boost cooperation, regional stability

CAIRO, Feb 14 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud confirmed the strength of fraternal ties between Egypt and the Kingdom and the mutual keenness to continue developing existing fields of cooperation and building on the positive momentum in relations.

This came during a phone call on Friday within the framework of continuous consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries, covering bilateral relations.

The ministers exchanged views on regional developments, emphasizing the priority of de-escalation and containing tensions in the region.

Regarding Gaza, both sides stressed the necessity of implementing Phase Two of President Donald Trump’s plan, supporting the National Committee for Gaza, and the rapid deployment of an international stability force to monitor the ceasefire and ensure full humanitarian aid access.

They discussed ongoing preparations for the upcoming Peace Council meeting in Washington, emphasizing Arab and Islamic coordination.

Regarding Sudan, they stressed the need to intensify efforts to reach a humanitarian truce as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire and a Sudanese-led political process while maintaining Sudan’s unity and institutions.

They addressed developments related to Red Sea security, emphasizing coordination between coastal states to ensure freedom of navigation.

Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s position that Red Sea governance must be limited to its bordering countries, rejecting any attempts to impose external roles in its management to support regional stability. (MENA)
