Egypt sees light to medium rains for Wednesday, Thursday

Meteorologists predict light rains on Wednesday and Thursday over Cairo and the northwestern coasts, as light to medium rains will fall across different areas in Lower Egypt, the northeastern coasts and central Sinai.

Heavy rains and thunders hit Egypt on March 12-13, bringing floods and causing mass traffic jams on roads. The government shut down the main roads and highways to protect the public amid heavy rain, strong winds, and dust storms throughout the country.

The Central Traffic Department closed several roads on March 12 in an effort to protect the public amid heavy rain, strong winds, and dust storms across the country.

The department closed the Al Wahat Al Bahriya – Al Farafra Road and Assiut – Al Kharga Road in two directions owing to lack of visibility and strong, dusty winds.

The administration opened the road following an improvement in weather conditions.

The government employed cranes to remove broken cars and clear traffic in areas impacted by the heavy rainfall.
