Egypt to establish massive 225-acre Olympic Village project in Red Sea

The Egyptian government has officially allocated a prime 225-acre site for the construction of a world-class Olympic Village in the Red Sea Governorate. Spanning 520,000 square meters, the massive sports complex will be strategically located directly across from the resort town of El Gouna.

The project is designed to position Egypt as a premier destination for international sports tourism by providing the infrastructure necessary to host major global championships and athletic events.

World-class facilities and hospitality

The Olympic Village is set to feature a diverse array of sports stadiums and specialized arenas designed to meet international Olympic standards.

To accommodate visiting international teams and spectators, the site will also include a luxury hotel built to global specifications, ensuring the facility can function as a self-sufficient hub for continental and international tournaments.

Strategic goals for sports and tourism

Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil stated that the state’s investment in the Red Sea region aims to create an ideal environment for scouting athletic talent and encouraging sports participation among Egypt’s youth.

“This village represents a significant addition to the governorate’s athletic infrastructure,” Nabil noted. He emphasized that the project will empower the Red Sea to host high-level international competitions, which in turn will provide a major boost to the local tourism industry.
