He stressed the importance of boosting cooperation, particularly in exchanging expertise and leveraging successful experiences, especially in modern water management technologies.

During the meeting, Sewilam reviewed key water challenges facing Egypt and outlined state efforts under the “Second Generation of Water System 2.0,” which focuses on improving water use efficiency, expanding water treatment and reuse, and adopting smart management and digital transformation in the sector.

He pointed to promising opportunities for cooperation in several areas, including irrigation modernization, efficient water use, real-time rainfall forecasting, early warning systems, and eco-friendly water infrastructure development, as well as training and capacity building.

On the international level, Sewilam underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in integrated water resources management, water reuse, desalination for intensive food production, and climate adaptation, alongside exchanging expertise and building capacities.

He also highlighted the need to enhance the role of the World Water Council, particularly with Egypt and Turkey being members of its Board of Governors, and to further integrate water and climate agendas globally, especially as Türkiye prepares to host COP31 in November 2026.
