Egypt, Turkey, Iran meet in New York to discuss Syrian crisis

Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr met with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts in New York City on Thursday evening to discuss the Syrian crisis. This is the second such meeting the three powers have held, and the second time the Saudi foreign minister has declined to attend.

"The Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehy presented the results of his recent meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amr Roshdy said in a press statement.

"The meeting was intended to find a way to support the UN’s mission and the Arab League’s envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi," Roshdy added. "The three ministers agreed to continue consultations and to meet again.”

While he was in New York, Kamel Amr also held meetings with foreign ministers from China, South Korea, Denmark, Hungary and Tunisia to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, especially tourism and investment.
