Egypt urges urgent support for Gaza health system at Arab ministers meeting

Egypt calls for immediate and sustained aid to Gaza’s health system following extensive damage to medical facilities across the Palestinian enclave, Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Friday 19/12/2025.

Speaking at the 63rd session of the Arab Health Ministers Council in Libya, Abdel Ghaffar, who also heads the council’s executive office, urged rapid delivery of medicines, medical supplies, vaccines and equipment, including support for mobile clinics funded by the Arab Health Development Fund.

He highlighted Egypt’s achievements in eliminating hepatitis C and other infectious diseases as a model for regional health progress and emphasized the importance of sharing expertise among Arab countries to strengthen health systems.

Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of leveraging Arab medical professionals abroad, supporting research and innovation, improving coordination among Arab health institutions, and promoting joint initiatives like the Arab Forum on Health and Environment and the Arab Observatory on Drugs.

He called for a unified Arab voice at the World Health Assembly to reflect regional health priorities and challenges.
