Egyptian astronaut to join NASA

An Egyptian researcher from the University of Technology in Munich, Germany, will join NASA as the first Egyptian astronaut at the agency.
 
Akram Abdellatif, 27, who currently works at the German Aerospace Center, will go into space starting in 2017 after he receives training in Florida, US. 
 
The Munich university website said Abdellatif has achieved his dream of being an astronaut and is currently preparing a PhD degree on bio-aviation.
 
According to the website, Abdellatif started his career as a communications engineer, then moved to Stuttgart for studies in 2009. Concurrently, he looked for job opportunities at one of the European airlines, but was not yet qualified.
