Egyptian FM meets with Libya counterpart at African Union summit

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed al-Orabi met with Libyan Foreign Minister Abdul Atti Obiedi at the African Union summit in Equatorial Guinea, where the two discussed ways of ensuring security for Egyptians living and working in Libya. They also discussed the release of Egyptian citizens detained by Libyan authorities.

An Egyptian diplomatic source told Al-Masry Al-Youm said that Orabi stressed that restoring Libya’s unity is essential for Egypt as well as for all African nations.

The source went on to say that Obiedi promised Orabi that he would look into the matter of detained Egyptians, and that he discussed the chances that the ceasefire plan proposed by African Union leaders would succeed.

Orabi stressed the importance finding a comprehensive political solution ensuring security and political freedom for all Libyan citizens
