Egyptian movie wins 2 awards at Brooklyn Film Festival

The Egyptian movie “Between Two Seas” directed by Anas Tolba won the prize for the best narrative film and the Mariam Naoum Art Achievement Award at the end of the 22nd edition of the Brooklyn Film Festival, which ran from May 31 to June 9 in United States of America.

The movie was first played at the Aswan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF) and won two awards; one for the best film supporting women’s issues and the Best Direction Film Award by the Cinematic Syndicate.

The movie starts with a short visit by the character Zahra to her home in Cairo. She then looks for her daughter, who has been tragically injured. Zahra then insists on completing her education and enlightening her community.

The movie focuses on social issues facing women who live in rural areas.

The movie is directed by Anas Tolba, written by Mariam Naoum and scripted by Amani al-Tonsi. The actors are Karim al-Daley, Fatma Adel, Yara Gebran, Tharaa Jbeil, Mahmoud Fares, Arfa Abdel Rasoul and Lobna Wanas.
