CAIRO, Jan 7 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al-Busaidi affirmed the alignment of their visions and the complementary efforts of both countries to reinforce security and stability in the region.
They emphasized the importance of adhering to the international law, resorting to the voice of wisdom and justice, and using all available peaceful means to bring together all parties in line with the supreme interests, sovereignty, and national security of their nations.
This came during a meeting between Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart on Wednesday as part of continued consultations and coordination between the two brotherly countries.
They discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional issues of common interest.
They also reviewed ongoing cooperation programs in various fields as well as opportunities to develop further economic and investment partnerships.
On the political front, both ministers reaffirmed their unwavering positions supporting the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
They emphasized the necessity of lifting the blockade imposed on Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Al Quds, allowing the immediate entry of all humanitarian and relief materials to the population, while paving the ground for reconstruction and restoring a dignified life for the people.
Regarding the developments in Yemen, both sides expressed their support for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh, aiming to reach a consensual resolution on the issue of southern Yemen. Their goal is to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and stability and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security and prosperity.
The two ministers also discussed the latest developments in Sudan, stressing the importance of supporting national institutions, halting fighting and escalation, protecting civilians, and facilitating the flow of humanitarian assistance to the population through UN agencies and relevant civil society organizations.
They also emphasized supporting efforts to reach a consensual political solution that preserves Sudan’s legitimate rights, ensures its sovereignty and stability, and facilitates peaceful coexistence with all neighboring countries.
Both ministers expressed great pride in the strong, fraternal, and historical relations between Egypt and Oman.
They reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing coordination, consultation, and constructive cooperation in all areas that serve mutual interests and strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the region. This is in line with the wise directives of the leaderships of the two countries and in response to the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. (MENA)
