Egyptian troops participate in Gulf military exercise

Egypt’s Armed Forces sent troops on Monday to participate in the joint-exercise ‘Joint Gulf Shield – 1′ organized by Saudi Arabia, with participation of ground, naval, and air troops from the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) countries, as well as from other close nations.

The armed forces stated on Monday that the exercise aims to exchange expertise in the fields of planning, organizing, and implementing the different training activities.

The exercise will enhance skills of the participating elements and develop their abilities to carry out symmetric and asymmetric tasks in different fields of operations, in order to secure vital goals and protect maritime borders and corridors.

The exercise comes within the armed forces’ joint-training plan with ‘brotherly’ and friendly countries, to exchange experiences and enhance military cooperation in order to reach the highest levels of efficiency and combat readiness.
