Egypt’s ambassador in Beirut attends Quintet Committee meeting with Lebanese PM

CAIRO, Jan 13 (MENA) – Egyptian Ambassador in Beirut Alaa Moussa took part in a meeting of ambassadors of the Quintet Committee, comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, France and the United States, with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

According to a statement by the foreign ministry, the meeting aimed to reaffirm the Quintet Committee’s support for Lebanon and its continued backing of the reform steps adopted by the Lebanese government, notably the approval by the Cabinet on Dec. 26, 2025 of the draft law on financial regularization and the recovery of deposits, which represents a key step toward addressing Lebanon’s financial and monetary crisis and paving the way for economic recovery.

The discussions also covered efforts to extend the authority of the Lebanese state across its entire territory, strengthen national institutions to ensure security and stability, and move forward with the completion of constitutional entitlements.

Salam expressed his country’s appreciation for the role played by the Quintet Committee in supporting Lebanon, commending its close follow-up of the reform path undertaken by the Lebanese government in line with Lebanon’s national interest.

He also reviewed the sustained efforts exerted by the Lebanese state in this regard. (MENA)
