Electricity Ministry appeals to citizens to continue paying bills

Egypt's Electricity Ministry has called on citizens to pay their bills.

The ministry also said it is coordinating with the Petroleum Ministry to ensure a sufficient flow of supply, adding that citizens would see a noticeable improvement in the service.

“There are calls by the supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsy on Facebook not to pay the electricity bills as part of [their] civil disobedience,” said ministry spokesperson Aktham Abul Ela. “This could incur heavy losses for the ministry, which serves all citizens without discrimination.”

“The bills pay the salaries of 200,000 employees as well as spare parts and premiums of stations,” he added.
