Eleven detained in attack on FJP leader’s house

Ehab Abu Eita, Head of the Damanhour prosecution, has detained 11 people accused of smashing last Friday a private car belonging to Gamal Heshmat, an MP hailing from the Freedom and Justice Party, as well as attempting to storm his house.

The health inspector was to examine two of the defendants to determine their age. A defendant who was found to be a minor was released.

Damanhour prosecutors inspected Heshmat’s house and car and listened to the testimony of a number of neighbors. The MP’s house is located in the district of Shubra, in Damanhour. The front door and the windows on the first floor were smashed.

The Muslim Brotherhood accused the Tamarod campaign, Dostour Party, and activists from the 6 April Youth Movement of attempting to storm Heshmat's house, after besieging it for several hours and setting his car ablaze. Before this incident, criminals had reportedly attacked a meeting of the opposition in Damanhour.
