European Commission thanks Egypt for its tireless efforts to provide aid to Gaza

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, confirmed that she discussed with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza, thanking Egypt for its efficient efforts to smooth the way for humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

Ursula wrote, through her account on the X platform: “I discussed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza with President Sisi. I thanked Egypt for its key role in providing and facilitating humanitarian aid to vulnerable Palestinians.”

She added: “We agreed on the principle of no forced displacement of Palestinians, and a political horizon based on a two-state solution.”

Leyen previously said that she had discussed with Sisi how to work to calm the situation in the Gaza Strip, stating: “Egypt is our ally in this situation.”

She added during a press conference from Al-Arish, shown by Extra News: “Tomorrow I will be in Jordan and meeting with King Abdullah II, and Jordan has an important role to play in calming this conflict, in addition to the rest of the organizations that are engaged in this humanitarian work and moving forward with a peace solution.”

She continued: “It is important that we think about tomorrow and provide a safe life for the Israeli people and the Palestinian people, and the solution is the two-state solution. Europe supports the negotiation as soon as the time comes, and we are in close cooperation with the allies and all parties.”
