
CAIRO, Dec 7 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised Egyptian–Canadian relations and the shared interests between the two countries in many fields.
The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting on Sunday with Canada’s Minister of State for International Development Randeep Sarai held on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s interest in further developing economic, trade and development cooperation, voicing appreciation for Canada’s support of Egypt in the development sphere.
He also praised the valuable contribution of Canadian-funded projects to Egypt’s national sustainable development efforts.
On regional developments, Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s position on the situation in Gaza, stressing the country’s continued coordination with international partners to help meet urgent humanitarian needs.
He underlined the importance of consolidating the ceasefire in line with the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Agreement and moving to the second phase of the accord.
He said Egypt looks forward to Canada’s contribution to relief and humanitarian efforts in Gaza, particularly during the early recovery phase, given the attention the Canadian government accords to this critical humanitarian issue. (MENA)
