
CAIRO, May 1 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff reviewed the latest developments on US-Iranian negotiations during a phone call on Friday.
During their phone conversation, the diplomats discussed the progress of ongoing talks after Tehran presented a modified proposal. They also exchanged views on recent regional developments.
Abdelatty underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to support the US-Iranian negotiation process to reach a political settlement and avoid the “specter of war.”
He also emphasized the importance of adhering to a negotiating approach and continuing efforts to reach understandings between the parties concerned, which is essential for ensuring a ceasefire, ending hostilities, and easing regional tensions.
Meanwhile, Witkoff commended Egypt’s role in support of regional de-escalation efforts, affirming his commitment to continued coordination and consultation with Cairo over the period ahead. (MENA)
