A draft law will soon be issued authorizing a major project for the conversion of the Suez Canal into an international logistics center, said Ali al-Selmy, deputy prime minister for political development and democratization, on Thursday.
The project aims to greatly increase the revenue of the Suez Canal Authority and to attract citizens to relocate to the Sinai Peninsula.
During a meeting in parliament with a number of political party heads, public figures, and revolutionary youth, Selmy said, “The trend right now is that Egypt’s security depends on the real development of Sinai rather than on slogans.”
