Grand mufti discusses with mufti of Kazakhstan ways to expand coordination between fatwa institution

Grand Mufti of Egypt and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide (GSFOW) Nazir Ayyad discussed on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, with Mufti of Kazakhstan Nauryzbai kazhy Taganuly ways to expand coordination and integration between fatwa institutions and exchange expertise on issues of mutual interest.

Efforts included addressing contemporary intellectual challenges, promoting moderate and open religious discourse and enhancing the role of religious institutions in serving their communities.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second International Conference of the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta, which concluded Tuesday, with the participation of a number of ministers, scholars and muftis from around the world.

Egypt’s grand mufti emphasized the importance of building effective partnerships between fatwa institutions to unify efforts, exchange insights and expertise and address emerging issues requiring collective reasoning and a sound scientific methodology. He also stressed the pivotal role of the GSFOW in supporting and strengthening this path.

For his part, the mufti of Kazakhstan praised efforts of the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta in fostering institutional cooperation and developing fatwa work, voicing hope for further coordination and collaboration in the future to serve Muslim communities and further promote values of understanding and coexistence.
