Hamas accuses Israel of killing Arafat

Hamas has accused the Israeli government of responsibility for the assassination of late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, after a Swiss report said it is likely that Arafat died as a result of Polonium poisoning.

Hamas called on the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank to halt peace process negotiations with Israel.

"The results of the analysis of the samples of late President Yasser Arafat, revealed by the Swiss team, emphasized that he was assassinated, and that his death is not natural," a Hamas spokesperson told Turkish news agency Anadolu.

He demanded to stop negotiations with Israel and to start necessary investigations to uncover the details of the alleged murder.

Palestinian and Israeli officials resumed negotiations late July under American supervision in Washington, following a three-year hiatus with each side blaming the other for a breakdown in diplomatic talks.
