In a formal statement released early today, Friday, Palestinian Hamas announced it will submit its final decision regarding the Gaza ceasefire proposal to mediators once its internal consultations are complete.
Hamas’s statement read: “As part of the movement’s commitment to ending the Zionist aggression against our people and ensuring the free entry of aid, the movement is currently holding consultations with the leaders of Palestinian factions and forces concerning the offer received from our mediator brothers.
The movement will deliver its final decision to the mediators after these consultations conclude and will announce it officially.”
Hamas and Israel have engaged in several rounds of indirect negotiations over the past months, but a final ceasefire agreement has yet to be reached. In previous talks, Hamas demanded a complete end to the war, while Israel insisted on only a temporary ceasefire.
