
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held talks with officials from the National Council for Education, Research, and Innovation (NCERI) on developing technical education, university programs, scientific research and the skills needed for the labor market.
Abdel Ghaffar met Salma al-Bakry, Head of the council’s Technical Secretariat, and Secretariat member Mahmoud Hamza at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.
Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting addressed the council’s role in coordinating education, scientific research and innovation, as well as preparing qualified professionals to keep pace with scientific and technological developments.
The talks covered plans for cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to develop technical education and coordinate efforts on the National Qualifications and Skills Framework and the National Labor Market Index.
Officials also discussed cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to develop new university specializations.
The meeting further covered plans to establish a research and studies unit within the council’s Technical Secretariat, as well as a committee to assess and develop university and pre-university education.
The legal status of the Technical Secretariat and its proposed budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year were also discussed.
