Wahid Seoudi, spokesperson for the Meteorological Agency, told the satellite TV channel Al-Hayat on Friday that the peak of the heatwave will occur on Sunday and Monday, accompanied by high humidity.
“The expected temperature in Cairo is 42 degrees Celsius,” he said.
The agency expects mist in the morning in the north, with low clouds and a moderate northeasterly wind that is more active in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea, disrupting marine traffic.
Waves in the Mediterranean Sea will reach heights of 1-2 meters and 2-3 meters in the Red Sea, with northwesterly surface winds on both seas.
