The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts that weather conditions on Wednesday will range from slightly hot to hot during the day across the northern part of the country, extending as far as Greater Cairo, while remaining hot in the south.
The authority warned that Nuweiba in South Sinai Governorate is at risk of flash floods, and urged citizens stay away from natural flood channels for their safety.
There will be a 30 percent chance of light to moderate rainfall across parts of the northwestern coastal governorates, the northern Lower Egypt, the Gulf of Aqaba, central Sinai, and areas in the southern part of the Red Sea Governorate.
Intermittent rainfall may occasionally be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms (with a probability of approximately 20 percent), particularly in the areas of Halayeb, Shalateen, and Ras Banas.
Thundery weather expected
Weather charts indicate a slight chance of light rain (approximately 20 percent probability) across parts of the southern Lower Egypt and the Suez Canal cities; this may extend, at times, to areas within Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt.
Satellite imagery has detected intermittent wind activity, with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h.
These winds may stir up sand and dust across parts of the northwestern coast, the Western Desert, and exposed areas within Greater Cairo, the Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, and northern Upper Egypt.
The EMA warned that the thunderstorms—which have an approximately 40 percent chance of occurring—may be accompanied by lightning in some areas, as well as strong winds caused by downdrafts descending from the thunderclouds.
The EMA urged citizens to take the necessary preparations and stay updated by following the authority’s latest bulletins.
