The supreme election commission has appointed members of the judiciary to posts throughout Egypt to oversee the electoral process for the upcoming parliamentary poll. Authorities assured the public that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be transparent.
In a statement released after its last meeting, the commission said it decided to set civil society monitoring and sorting procedures. President of Cairo Appeals Court Mahmoud Talaat Muftah presided over the meeting. The commission plans to distribute manuals to parties, journalism institutions, syndicates, universities and civil society organizations to shed light on its electoral process supervision.
