Humidity and heat wave strike Egypt from Wednesday to Friday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority anticipates temperatures to rise from Wednesday until Friday, warning that the maximum temperature could reach 46C in southern Upper Egypt.

Meteorologists expect the heat wave to peak on Friday and warned against direct exposure to sunlight, especially during peak hours from 12-4 pm.

High humidity is expected in Cairo and Lower Egypt, reaching 85 percent during the night hours, compared to 90 percent in the coastal governorates.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday in Greater Cairo in the shade is expected to hit 36C while the tangible temperature otherwise will be 39C.

The expected tangible temperature on Wednesday, will be 45C in southern Upper Egypt.

Active winds are expected over northwest coast at intermittent intervals.

Meteorologists attributed the sharp rise in temperatures to hot western winds affecting Egypt.

They advised wearing a head cover or a cap when going out, and keeping well hydrated throughout the day.

 

Maximum humidity rates expected for Wednesday:

  • Cairo and Lower Egypt: 85 percent
  • North Coast: 90 percent
  • South Sinai: 70 percent
  • Northern and Central Upper Egypt: 65 percent
  • Southern Upper Egypt: 40 percent

 

Maximum temperatures predicted on Wednesday:

  • Northern coasts 34C (Tangible 37C)
  • Cairo and Lower Egypt 36C (Tangible 39C)
  • South Sinai 40C (Tangible 44C)
  • Northern Upper Egypt 40C (Tangible 42C)
  • Southern Upper Egypt 44C (Tangible 45C)
