US ‘vows to strike Iran’

US President Donald Trump said the US would escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary, adding that he hoped the US-led military efforts would go well.

In an interview with Fox News broadcast on Friday, he vowed to strike Iran “very hard next week.”

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent announced on Thursday that an international coalition might be able to protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking with Sky News, Bisent added that the US Navy would begin escorting commercial vessels once the military secures Iranian airspace.
