Islamic group condemns NYC fire attacks

New York — The Council on American-Islamic Relations is condemning a firebomb attack on an Islamic center in New York City.

The group says about 80 worshippers were inside the Imam al-Khoei Foundation on Sunday night when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the building, damaging a door.

Governor Andrew Cuomo condemned the attack on the Queens mosque and three nearby sites.

Authorities are investigating the attacks as hate crimes. There were no injuries.

Police say three of the attacks involved Molotov cocktails made from bottles.

At 8 pm, a bottle was thrown at a bodega counter.

Ten minutes later, a nearby house was damaged after possibly being set on fire.

At 8:44 pm, the mosque was targeted.

At 10:14 pm, two bottles were thrown at a house used for Hindu worship services. They didn't explode.
