Jama’a al-Islamiya denies deal banning religious slogans during protests

The Jama'a al-Islamiya has denied the existence of any agreement among political forces not to use religious slogans during last Friday’s demonstration in Tahrir Square.

The group accused what it called "leftists" and "secularists" of violating the will of the people.

In a statement on Sunday, the group said it had clear reservations about other political forces calling for a ban on using religious slogans.
