Jamaa al-Islamiya says ruining joy of Copts on Christmas ‘forbidden’

Jamaa Al-Islamiya said schemes referred to by media channels with links to ‘coup government’ to carry out blasts against Copts during Christmas celebrations “are prohibited. It’s banned to ruin joy of the Copts.”

In a statement, the group condemned any action that causes harm to any Egyptian; a Muslim or Copt. It assured that such crimes are forbidden by Sharia as none of Egyptians accept that any local or foreign agency carry out such bombings and charge innocent people of performing them to create sectarian strife in Egypt.

The group said that indifference with Copts who adopt political views on the current crisis of the country do not allow performing such actions.

“Preserving safety of the Egyptian state requires facing such plots. At the same time, it requires everyone to realize that Egypt needs a solution that unites people, preserves its capabilities. Everyone should take part in making the country’s bright future without exclusion or revenge,” it added.

The third anniversary of bombing Alexandria’s al-Qiddisine Church will take place by the New Year Eve. The Church was bombed in 2011 leaving 20 persons killed.

In the eighties and nineties, the group led a bloody campaign against security leaders before revising its ideology and denouncing violence. The group then formed its own political party, the Building and Development Party, after the January revolution in 2011.
