
Minister of Justice Mahmoud al-Sherif met on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz to discuss judicial cooperation, capacity building and future areas of legal collaboration between the two countries.
The two sides reviewed the current cooperation through the German Agency for International Cooperation and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, including training programs, technical assistance and the exchange of judicial expertise.
The two officials also discussed the possibility of broader bilateral agreements on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, the transfer of sentenced persons and cooperation in civil and commercial cases.
Additionally, they also discussed expanding technical support programs in line with the Justice Ministry’s development plans.
Sherif said that Egypt remains committed to strengthening the rule of law and continuing to modernize the justice system under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, including expanding digital services and promoting alternative dispute resolution, particularly in economic cases.
Meanwhile, Schulz welcomed continued legal dialogue and expressed Germany’s interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and hold regular meetings to follow up on joint initiatives.
