King Tut’s gold mask undamaged: official

The general manager of the Egyptian Museum, Khaled Enany, denied that King Tutankhamun's golden mask was harmed on Sunday, in response to what was published on some news sites regarding the fall of the mask after a group of students crowded around the display.

According to the circulated news, the mask was removed from the display area following the incident.

Enany added in his press statement Sunday that the mask had been transferred to Hall 55 on October 10, which is closed and does not receive visitors. He pointed out that the mask was being restored.

The school students had been crowding around another King Tut statue, a wooden head that was moved from its location by the students, said Enany. The statue was returned to its original location by a specialized committee following the incident, he added.
