Lawyer: Mubarak not in coma

Farid al-Deeb, lawyer of former President Hosni Mubarak, denied that his client has entered a coma, saying he is in good health.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Deeb said that Mubarak’s health was stable and that he is still being treated in Maadi public hospital.

The lawyer added that rumors always on the rise when Mubarak’s trial nears. He said he does not expect a specific verdict and that he is awaiting the court decision.

Deeb declined to comment on the postponement of Judge Mahmoud Kamel al-Rashidy, who reviews Mubarak’s lawsuit, his client's travel to France for treatment fearing be late and being forced to adjourn the retrial again.

Rashidy was supposed to issue a verdict in September, however, he adjourned the retrial to 29 November citing more time to review the evidence.

Mubarak, along with his sons Alaa and Gamal, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, six former top security deputies and fugitive businessman Hussein Salem, face charges of killing protesters during the 25 January revolution and financial corruption. All are involved in the lawsuit.
