Mansour station’s 3rd accident in a week leaves 14 passengers injured

Fourteen passengers of a Mansoura-Matareya train were left with a variety of injuries including abrasions and fractures following a crash on Wednesday when the last train coach collided from behind with the station’s barriers.

The same train was involved in two accidents in the past week, which resulted in the death of one man and an Al-Azhar high school student losing their arms after falling under the wheels.

The Undersecretary of the Health Ministry in Daqahlia Saad Makki announced that nine ambulances rushed to the scene to transfer all of the injured to the Mansoura International Hospital.

The accident was caused by a shunt error while returning to the rear, according to the investigations of police dispatched to the scene.

A security source stressed that the train did not derail, though the collision still caused the passengers to panic.
